Ports of Auckland (www.poal.co.nz) is New Zealand's leading container and vehicle import port, one of the top 120 container ports in the world and a key partner to export and import businesses.

POAL provides a full range of cutting-edge marine, cargo-handling and logistics services at two seaports – one on the east coast adjacent to the Auckland central business district, the other on the west coast in Onehunga.  Via subsidiary CONLINXX, it also owns and operates a strategically located freight hub at Wiri, South Auckland.

POAL is vitally important to New Zealand's supply chain and trading infrastructure, handling 40% of New Zealand's total imports and 21% of New Zealand's total exports by value.  POAL is also the dominant player in the New Zealand container market, holding 63% of the upper North Island market and 37% of the total New Zealand market.

By value, Port of Auckland handles the greatest throughput of international trade of any New Zealand port facility: some $24.5 billion annually.  This figure represents around 13% of national GDP - roughly equivalent to that handled by the ports of Whangarei, Tauranga and Lyttelton combined.

Auckland is also the country’s premier exchange port for cruises, helping to secure significant tourism revenue for the region.

POAL is a limited liability company and is 100% owned by Auckland Council Investments Limited, a Council Controlled Organisation.
